This villa/residential development has familiar features resembling a swanky place in Monaco, Capri, or Greece. But it beats the long-haul flight to Europe. Not only are you reserving a luxe US stayover, in my case, in building 1, but your tucked-away island hideaway includes a complimentary golf cart rental, giving you an open ticket to explore this charming island off the coast of SOCAL. The rooms are furnished in coastal chic with state-of-the-art amenities. The balcony is divine. The location is prime. It’s ideal for folks who don’t mind giving their FITBIT a workout (over 100 steps to ascend from your golf cart parking).

This one-bedroom condo in the Hamilton Cove community of Avalon is the kind of place where a long weekend feels like a full reset, and where mornings start slow with coffee in hand and ocean light filling the room.

Living space
The interior is crafted with genuine care - mahogany hand-scraped hardwood floors run throughout, paired with imported 15th-century reclaimed limestone from Corsica. It's a space that feels considered rather than generic, with an open-concept layout that keeps things airy and connected. A Smart TV with Alexa voice control rounds out the living area for evenings in.

Sleeping arrangements
The bedroom is fitted with a Cariloha king mattress and quality linens, designed for genuinely restful sleep. For groups of three or four, a king-sized sofa sleeper in the living space means everyone rests comfortably. The condo accommodates up to 4 guests across 1 bedroom and 2 beds.

Kitchen & dining
The kitchen is fully outfitted with KitchenAid appliances, a Keurig coffee maker stocked with Starbucks capsules, and a complete set of cookware and tools - everything you need to cook properly or simply make breakfast before heading out. Wine glasses, a blender, baking sheets, and barbecue utensils are all on hand. When the weather cooperates (and in Avalon it usually does), take it outside to the balcony dining set for a meal with a view.

Outdoor & extras
The ocean-facing balcony is fitted with outdoor furniture and a BBQ grill - an easy spot for an evening cook-up as the sun drops behind the hills. A hot tub is available on the property for guests. The building has a washer for longer stays, and free parking is available on the premises. An EV charger is also available for guests with electric vehicles.

Getting around
A 2020 EZGO electric golf cart is included with your stay - the natural way to move around Avalon, where golf carts are the primary mode of transport. It makes the whole island feel accessible and unhurried, which is exactly the point.

Location
Avalon is the only city on Catalina Island, a short ferry ride from the Southern California mainland. The Hamilton Cove community sits above the town, offering quiet and privacy while keeping the waterfront, restaurants, and shops within easy reach by cart.
